Whether celebrating a service anniversary, recognizing the achievement of a performance goal, or highlighting a specific milestone, associates’ outstanding performance and dedicated service is rewarded and recognized with a variety of programs, such as Catch the Spirit, People First, and the Howard Lester Award of Excellence, as well as a variety of programs which are utilized in specific operation locations.


The annual Howard Lester Award of Excellence is Williams-Sonoma, Inc.’s highest honor. Recipients exemplify Howard’s Rules — our Guiding Principles — and demonstrate the values that are the essence of our culture: delighting customers, inspiring others, and focusing on quality and continuous improvement. All WSI full-time, part-time and casual associates are eligible for nomination.


Each year the People First award honors managers of others who consistently inspire their teams to reach new levels of performance and create an environment in which our associates can excel. All managers of others across the organization are eligible for nomination.


The quarterly Catch the Spirit recognition program is designed to recognize and reward associates who consistently embrace the values of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and embody the spirit and the culture of the Company. All WSI full-time managers and below are eligible to be nominated for the Award.
